[Photo] One Family’s Struggles Leads Them To Boston Terrier Love
Get your kleenex ready. We received this heartfelt email from Sara and just had to share it and the awesome photo. Here it is:
My whole life I’ve “hated” animals. I didn’t like that they slobbered, shed, smelled, pooped, panted… Anything! In 2004 my children lost their father suddenly. Because of this they became very close to their grandfather, he was all they had left of their dads family. In 2010 he became severely ill and died of liver failure and we inherited his shi tzu that bit everyone, was mean and awful. None the less, he was grandpa’s dog.
Ten days after we lost grandpa the dog got hit by a car and died. My children were devastated to say the least! In a moment of emotion I jumped on craigslist to find a replacement dog that would help my children heal.. I searched all day, reloading the pages, trying and trying unable to find anything. Suddenly an ad popped up “free Boston terrier to good home” I didn’t even know what a Boston was so I googled it and drove right over to meet her. The family didn’t take care for of her, Heriot her chained up outside, fed her ol’Roy dog food so she vomited a lot throughout the day. She was underweight and under loved. She immediately took to me and we brought her home “for the kids”
She was in heaven at our home, was cared for properly. She laid on my lap, snuggled me at night.. Very quickly wriggled her way into healing MY HEART! Gracie has shown me how to love a pet and given unconditional love. We have since given another rescue Boston a forever home. I’m so grateful for these two babies, can’t imagine life without them!!

Sara,
Awesome story!!!! And you have discovered what we all know….Boston Terriers are simply the best. They truly are one of a kind. I hope you and your family have found some comfort after all the losses you have experienced.
What a wonderful story and thank you for sharing! My brother suffered from an illness that had left him unable to care correctly for his Boston Buster. When we finally starting caring for our brother we helped him with Buster, eventually bringing both of them to my mother’s house where we cared for my brother until he passed away. My mother was over 80 (but still lively and working) but had been used to living on her own since my dad passed away almost 25 years earlier. She did NOT want a dog!!! But she kept him – probably because he was the link to her son. And now, three years later my mom and Buster are one hell of a team! They love each other and Buster has gotten my mom through forced retirement and some health issues. They go everywhere together. Bostons are truly love!
Bostons are little thieves. They will steal a heart in a minute. They can also mend a heart in a minute and are little love bugs.
